What is the KTEO?
The KTEO is Greece’s periodic roadworthiness test — the equivalent of the British MOT or the German TÜV. An I.KTEO like ours is a private test centre: it carries out exactly the same official inspection as the public centres and issues the same official inspection certificate. The difference is the service — at a private centre you usually do not wait, and with us you can simply walk in.
Does it apply to my car?
The KTEO applies to Greek-registered vehicles. If your car still has foreign plates, the rules of the country where it is registered generally apply. Every case is a little different, so if you are unsure, call us on +30 28410 21111 and we will point you in the right direction — in English.
When is it due?
- Cars and motorcycles: first test 4 years after first registration, then every 2 years.
- Taxis: every year.
- Emissions Card (KEK): a separate check, usually every year.
The due date follows the vehicle, not the owner — so if you bought a used car, check the last inspection certificate or enter the dates in our deadline calculator. You can come up to 3 weeks early without losing any validity.
What to bring
- The vehicle registration certificate — in Greek, the άδεια κυκλοφορίας
- Your passport, ID card or driving licence — you do not have to be the owner
- The previous inspection certificate, if there is one
What happens on the day
- Reception: hand in your documents and pay — cash or card. Our office staff speak English.
- Inspection line: the inspector drives your car onto the line while you wait in our waiting area, with coffee and Wi-Fi.
- The test: brakes on the brake tester, steering and suspension on the lift, lights, tyres and emissions. A car takes 20–25 minutes.
- The result: the inspector — a mechanical engineer — explains what they found and hands you the official inspection certificate.

What does it cost?
Car €45, motorcycle €25, light truck up to 3.5 t €55. The Emissions Card is separate at €10. If something needs fixing, the re-inspection costs €5. Full details in our price list.

We can collect your vehicle from your home or holiday rental, test it and bring it back — at no extra charge, by arrangement. Very handy if you are not yet used to driving around the area.
