Late inspection surcharges

If your KTEO deadline has passed, the law adds a surcharge to the cost of the test. The amounts below apply to passenger cars.

  • Up to 30 days late+€16
  • 30 days to 6 months late+€33
  • More than 6 months late+€65
  • Late re-inspection+€4

When is my KTEO test due?

The question we are asked most often on the phone. Enter the date of first registration — or of your last test — and see straight away when your KTEO expires.

  • Cars & motorcycles: first test 4 years after first registration, then every 2 years.
  • Taxis: first test 1 year after first registration, then every year.
  • You can come early: the test can be done up to 3 weeks before the deadline, without losing any days of validity.

About us

Two brothers, one signature on every test

KTEO Agios Nikolaos opened in August 2012, founded by two brothers, Nikos and Manolis Papadakis. Their relationship with vehicles began many years earlier — and that is the difference when an inspection centre is not an investment, but your life’s work.

14 years on, our team includes 3 mechanical engineers and 2 office staff. We are a family business in a small community: our customers are our neighbours, and that keeps us honest.

We do our job properly. We check every vehicle thoroughly, as if it were our own, and we look after every customer with care and a smile. We are not in a hurry to finish — we are in a hurry to be sure.

A proper inspection needs both. We have invested in reliable machines — and in people who know how to read them.

MAHA equipment

Inspection lines, brake tester, play detector and exhaust gas analyser from one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of vehicle test equipment.

ISO certified

We operate a certified quality management system. Our equipment is checked and calibrated every year, each September.

All 3 of our inspectors are mechanical engineers. After the test we explain what we found — in words you understand.

Before you come

What to bring with you

Four things, nothing more. If something is missing, call us first and we will sort it out.

Registration certificate

The original vehicle registration document (άδεια κυκλοφορίας). The test cannot be done without it.

ID, passport or licence

Of the person bringing the vehicle — it does not have to be the owner.

Previous KTEO certificate

If the vehicle has been inspected before, bring the latest inspection certificate.

LPG / CNG certificate

Only for vehicles with an LPG or natural gas system.

Do you speak English?

Yes. Our front-office team speaks English, both on the phone and at the reception desk, so you can call us on +30 28410 21111 or drop by and be served in English.

Do I need an appointment for a KTEO test?

Not necessarily. We accept vehicles without an appointment, Monday to Friday 08:00–17:00. If you want to be sure of no waiting at all, you can book in two ways: call us on +30 28410 21111, or book online through our page on the PernaoKteo.gr platform.

What documents do I need to bring?

The vehicle registration certificate, your ID card, passport or driving licence and — if available — the previous inspection certificate. For vehicles with an LPG or natural gas system you also need the installation certificate.

How long will it take?

A passenger car takes 20–25 minutes and a motorcycle about 12 minutes. Because we have two separate inspection lines, motorcycles never wait behind cars.

What happens if my vehicle fails?

We explain in detail what was found and what needs doing. Once it is fixed, you come back for a re-inspection, which costs only €5. You do not pay for the full test again.

How often is the Emissions Card (KEK) renewed?

For most vehicles the KEK is renewed every year and costs €10. It can be done together with the KTEO test or on its own, whenever it suits you.

Can you collect my vehicle?

Yes, at no extra charge. By arrangement, we collect the vehicle, inspect it and bring it back. It is the service professionals and fleet owners appreciate most.

How can I pay?

Cash or card. For professionals and businesses we issue a proper invoice.
